Please join our chief legal officer panelists Eric Dale of Nielsen, Sara Hall of ALSAC/St Jude, and Douglas Luftman of Lecorpio for a discussion on findings from the recently released ACC CLO Survey and how they use such data in their leadership of the legal department.

Topics to be discussed will include: demonstrating the legal department’s value to the C-Suite, metrics and measurements, budget and resourcing, as well as staffing and hiring best practices and trends.

The ACC CLO Survey is the largest global study of the issues facing CLOs with insight from 1000+ CLOs in 42 countries.  Some notable findings are:

  • More than one-in-four survey respondents (28%) said their companies have been targeted by a regulator in the past two years; 77% report handling at least one internal or external compliance-related investigation in their department.
  • 22% report having faced a data breach at their companies, the same percentage as last year.
  • Nearly half of CLOs anticipate work they send to outside firms to remain the same. E-discovery work may be on the upswing when it comes to outsourcing.
  • Nearly one-in-three CLOs said that they fired at least one law firm in the past year, and nearly half said that they definitely or may fire a law firm in the year ahead.
  • Capped fees are the most common AFA reported (72%), followed by flat fees (57%).
