The FCPA is a statute enforced by the DOJ and SEC designed to combat corruption around the world. It contains anti-bribery provisions, which proscribe certain businesses and individuals from bribing foreign public officials, as well as accounting provisions, which require certain companies to keep reasonably accurate records and maintain adequate internal controls. Last year was record-setting for FCPA enforcement, but speculation continues regarding the current administrationís enforcement of the FCPA in the coming years.
